Other Sports

Hurling and Gaelic football are the most well-known GAA activities and occupy the same place in Irish society as soccer does in England or Baseball and American Football do in the USA. But in many schools all over Ireland one will find children playing Rounders and Handball, and in some areas of the country you will find people playing a rare pastime called road-bowling.

Handball
Handball is similar to squash or racketball. The fundamental difference is that the ball is struck with one's hand rather than a racket.

Rounders
Rounders is similar to Baseball.

Road Bowling
This is a rare pastime which is confined to certain areas in counties Armagh and Clare.
