The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA)

The GAA is a non-profit, community association with branches all over the world, and headquartered at Europe’s biggest stadium, Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland. Its aims are to preserve and promote Ireland’s native culture as expressed mainly through sport, but also through song and dance. It is best known as the governing body of Ireland’s national games of Hurling and Gaelic Football.

The local branch of the GAA is called the Western Division Board, a body which administers the Bay Area championships. These are fiercely contested every year by seventeen local clubs in Boxer Stadium at Balboa Park in the Sunset district.
