Campbell leads the way for Fog City
Fog City Harps 3-14
Clan na Gael 0-01

Tyrone native and Fog City star Tish Campbell helped Fog City Harps collect their first win of the year at Beach Chalet last Sunday with a comprehensive victory over city rivals Clan na Gael. Campbell led the way for Fog City scoring 3 points from play from the half back position. Others to shine for Fog City were: newcomer Laila Danielson (1-1), Kristen Janiak (1-2), Aisling Bryant (0-2) and Mary Keenan (1-0) at half back.

Michael Cusacks 2-16
Young Irelanders 0-04

Once again Seamus O’Gara inspired the Cusacks to victory over the Y. I.’s who never really got going in the match that the Saffron and Blue controlled from start to finish.

Half forward Eddie Clancy opened the Cusacks account inside the first two minutes after a fine pass from Kevin White. Seamus O’Gara then had the next three Cusacks points one of them coming from a close in free. Padraig Geoghegan popped up from half back to tap one over to stretch the Cusacks lead 0-5. Owen O’Hehir then opened the Y.I.’ account with a pointed free before Eddie Clancy again had the Y.I.’s defense again chasing shadows. Seamus O’Gara (0-2), Eddie Clancy (0-2), Fergus O’Sullivan (0-1) and a major from goal poacher supreme Ali Downey piled on the misery for Frank McGovern side’s coming up to halftime. Eoin O’Hehir was again the only bright light for the Y.I.’s in the first half accounting for their second score a point from play just before half time.

Cusacks eased off the gas in the second half choosing to give breaks to Clancy, Downey, and White in the forward division. Martin Ferris normally known for his runs of defense showed that he can score too with a total of 1-2 before the second half ended. Kevin White, Kevin Mooney, Seamus O’Gara and Colm Cafferty all had has scores in the second half hour. Ulster scrape through in tough battle

All ready for action prior to last Sundays Mens Football contest at Beach Chalet are pictured left to right Colin White (Séan Treacys), Sean Casey (Kerry) and James Downes (Ulster A). Ulster won the match 0-14 to 1-08.

Ulster 0-14
Séan Treacys 1-08

Séan Treacys put up a brave fight against Ulster at a sun drenched Beach Chalet last Sunday afternoon. Ulster did enough to scrape through despite being reduced to 12 men midway through the first half. It took late points from Eugene Cudden (0-2), James Downes (0-1), and Ryan Cawley (0-1) to seal the win despite the best efforts of Ken Hyland, Bosco Hughes and Alan Coughlan on the gallant Séan Treacys team.

Gearoid Murphy opened the scoring for Treacys on five minutes. Eugene Cudden leveled the teams shortly afterwards with a fine point from distance before Paul Bayly opened his account with a pointed free to put Ulster up by one. Back came Treacys in the form of Ken Hyland with another minor before Howie Hughes stretched the Treacys lead to two, with a pointed free from close-in.

James Downes, Ulster, playing a blinder at midfield had the first of his two points of the afternoon to leave the minimum between the sides. Two minutes later Gary Foley had a glorious chance for a goal to push Ulster two points ahead but Liam Moloney in the Treacys goal denied him with a great diving save. Treacys had their gander up now after being let off the hook and defender Paudie O’Connor found himself in space to fire over another point for the Treacys. Sean Casey (ref) reduced Ulster to 12 men midway through the half and this seemed to spur on Ulster who were forced to make sweeping changes to adjust to the numerical disadvantage. Paul Bayly again had another point from a free with Ryan Cawley adding two more from play. Holes in the Ulster defense allowed Treacys to work their way in for another major score and it was that man Hyland again jinxing his way through to fire a shot into the Ulster net giving the advancing Clancy no hope. Austin McKenna added a point as half time approached to level the score at Treacys 1-04 Ulster A 0-07.

In the second half Ulster surprisingly controlled most of the play as Treacys squandered possession going forward and failing to take their scores. Austin McKenna played a great second half for Ulster by adding two points. Cawley, Cudden and Downes were the other scorers for Ulster in the second half. Ken Hyland ran a one-man show up front scoring three more points on the changeover with a little help from Alan Coughlan (0-1). The final score was Ulster 0-14 Séan Treacys 1-08.
